I am currently a retired Supervisory Program Specialist in the Office of Healthcare Transformation previously Office of Strategic Integration – Veterans Engineering Resource Center (OSI-VERC). In this role I manage National level projects for the Veterans Healthcare Administration. I was was previously Director of the Veterans Engineering Resource Center (VERC) at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System and the Acting National VERC Director. I developed the grant that supported the Pittsburgh VERC and was one of four centers selected in a competitive review process among applications from 23 VA Medical Centers across the country. My pharmacy career includes staff, supervisory, and clinical pharmacist positions over the past 40 years in professional clinical settings including inpatient and outpatient hospital pharmacy, retail, and my current part-time position as a Specialty Care Pharmacist for CVS Caremark.I developed the Pharmacology Curriculum for Chatham University Physician Assistant and Doctor of Physical Therapy programs and taught there for 17 years an Adjunct Professor of Pharmacology. I am currently adjunct faculty in the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health School and School of Engineering Health Systems Engineering Certificate Course and School of Pharmacy Healthcare Innovations Course. My current interest is in improving healthcare processes through the use of simulation, technology, and Lean. I have developed game based learning programs to teach a wide variety of content across VHA. I led the VERC effort in developing a lung nodule tracking tool for the VHA National Lung Cancer Screening trial and Prostate Cancer Tracking Tool. I was the National lead for the VERC effort in the VHA National My VA Access Program from FY 15-17 and I am currently working in the Access Program in VHA as a Senior FAC-PPM Project Manager. I have recently conducted site specific visits at VHA facilities needing support in meeting performance metrics. I was project lead for the Smoke Free VHA project that banned smoking on VHA property effective October 1, 2019 and for the Control of High Risk Medication national VHA initiative. I am currently working as the data lead for the PACT Act which provides increased access and disability benefits to Veterans with military environmental exposures.
