Globally IKEA has commitments to achieve long-term access to raw materials and to use resources within the limits of the planet, this includes how we build and operate our stores.Energy and waste represent two of IKEA UK and Ireland’s biggest costs. Energy is one of the highest costs to IKEA UK & IE today, and our business is heavily dependent on the volatile waste commodity markets of both card and film. Therefore we need to control our energy and waste management operations in a better way by investigating and identifying key opportunities. As a dedicated Energy and Resource manager, I focus specifically on energy and utility management to help to improve business agility in stores, by reducing unnecessary costs, whilst ensuring compliance across our stores in these high risk areas.
