Mr. Burke is an expert in the area of international trade regulation. His experiences over the years established him as a trade law strategist. He entered the trade practice as a trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Division prior to his private practice with Barnes, Richardson & Colburn where he was a partner and managing partner. He is now of counsel to the firm.He has appeared in numerous administrative trade related proceedings and tried many related cases before the relevant courts. His law practice concentrates on international trade regulation, including practice before the U.S. Court of International Trade, The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the International Trade Commission (review of injury to domestic industry caused by imports), the International Trade Administration (Anti-dumping and Countervailing Duty investigations), the Bureau of Industry and Security (export controls), the Foreign Asset Control Board and the Environmental Protection Agency. Robert has managed Congressional trade legislation and, for example, obtained permanent duty-free treatment of the drug Ciprofloxacin. He has advised many clients on civil and criminal trade related enforcement proceedings and establishing internal controls relating to compliance with the trade laws.Some representative clients on the public record have included Archer Daniels Midland, Chrysler Corporation, Magid Glove and Safety, Inc., Baxter Laboratories, Inc., Bayer Corporation, BP America, Inc., Marathon Oil Corporation, Kohler Company, Deere and Company, Mitsubishi International Corporation, NTN Toyo Company, Mitsui USA, Inc., PSA Group, Monsanto, inc., General Electric Medical Systems, Inc., and other large and small businesses.Using his prior experience as a licensed real estate broker, Mr. Burke serves as a volunteer in negotiating land acquisitions and conservation easements for the Green Lake Conservancy, Inc., a Wisconsin charitable land trust.
