Assisted with Mechanical Commissioning Activities for 265 MW plant consisting of a General Electric Frame 7 Gas Turbine with a Siemens SST-900RH Steam Turbine, Alstom Triple Pressure HRSG with Supplemential Duct Firing, KGB Boiler Feedwater Pumps, Foster Wheeler Auxiliary Boilers and a Demineralized Water Treatment Facility using Ultra Filters, Reverse Osmosis and Mixed Beds. Installed a Shin Nippon Back Pressure Turbine over at neighboring paper mill. Thorold supplied steam to the shin nippon back pressure turbine at the paper plant and used the steam for drying paper and facility heating. Duties consisted of mechanical flushing of varous systems, walking down plant systems to ensure built to design and intial operation of the plant during steam blows, performance testing up to turnover to the client.

Plant used a zero water discharge system consisting of a Cooling Tower Blowdown and Process Waste Water Reduction System which included both Mechanical and Brine Concentration Equipment which discharged to one of three evaporation ponds. Duties included Training Clients Operators in all aspects of operations of a Combined Cycle facility which included plant rounds, maintenance, water chemistry and general troubleshooting.
