Serving as an Independent Consultant, in this capacity, responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, counsel and vision for the company with regards to safety issues worldwide. It's the responsibility to ensure that all U.S. and international location activities, policies, procedures, systems, and plans effectively drive Safety performance that meets or exceeds company Safety objectives; and oversee compliance progress to ensure that all activities are conducted in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

Recruited following tenure with Burns & McDonnell; reporting to the SVP – Global HR, responsible for providing strategic leadership and vision for the company with regards to HSE issues worldwide (China, Thailand, Finland, Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Sweden, Chile, and Spain). Prepared all communications, presentations and reported HSE performance to the CEO’s of FWAG, FWEC and FWGPG and the Board of Directors. •Proposed and successfully gained the confidence of the Sr. Executive Leadership Team to implement the Foster Wheeler HSE Management System, globally, beginning with a strategy to communicate HSE Leadership traits to all Executive Management and cascade throughout the entire organization. •Global Organizational Objectives defined to address training; communication and recognition; and hazard control, to address systemic deficiencies in orientation and compliance training; software solutions from incident management; minimum standards for project initiation and subcontractor management.•Achieved EMR reduction of 42% over the past two years. Represented a substantial cost savings pertaining to insurance.•Engaged the entire Leadership Team of CEO’s to participate as HSE Audit Team Members and perform “hands-on” Regional and OU HSE Audits.

Reporting to Board of Directors, designed, developed, and implemented initiatives and processes as part of a company-wide comprehensive Safety and Health program. This included developing a strategy and monitoring the effective execution of various safety engineering, safety awareness and accident investigation activities across ten Global Practices, all as part of creating a safety culture throughout the organization. The role served as the strategic catalyst for setting the direction of the Safety & Health Management System; working with senior leaders across the businesses and functions to inspire participation and to bring cohesiveness and synergy to the program. Responsible for the development of a compelling, strategic-focused and multi-faceted communication plan that addresses employee owners, clients, subcontractors, management, and other affiliates that sells ideas and solutions by forming partnerships with operating leaders and corporate executives and demonstrating value. • Reorganized the H&S department to better support all Global Practices, Regional Offices, and EPC projects. The reorganization embedded safety into each business unit within the company and provided internal customers with a single-point of contact for H&S issues.• Provided leadership to achieve a Total Recordable Incident Rate inclusive of over 3000 employee owners and all subcontractors of <0.3 for the past two consecutive years.• Developed a Continuity and Crisis Management Plan as a result of the H1N1 virus pandemic. Safety staff spearheaded efforts toward minimizing its overall impact to the company.• Developed an on-line Incident Notification System that allowed immediate company-wide notification of serious and near-miss incidents to apply immediate countermeasures thus preventing recurrence. • Negotiated skillfully in tough situations with internal and external parties by winning concessions without damaging relationships and being direct and diplomatic.

SPX Thermal Equipment and Services is a Fortune 500 company comprised of several brands including Marley, Recold, Balcke-Durr, and SPX Cooling Technologies all designed to provide full service to meet the need of conventional and combined-cycle power plants, nuclear power plants, waste-to-energy incineration plants, as well as the chemical, petrochemical and processing industries.•Charged with developing, deploying and establishing SPX Thermal Equipment and Services EHS Management System and framework throughout the global businesses.•Communicate to SPX senior management; progress on EHS Management Plan detailing the activities in place to reach defined Segment EHS goals, as well as Segment Metrics.•Development of Core EHS Policies and Procedures that move beyond compliance into best practices.•Staff development of Construction and Manufacturing EHS Managers; 12 domestically and 10 internationally.•Using lean management techniques, standardize PPE and safety equipment in order to reduce global spend.

Selected to lead the Safety, Security, and Health functions for the construction and operation of Toyota’s $1.2 Billion dollar Tundra assembly plant in San Antonio, Texas. The manufacturing plant is the largest, innovative designed automobile manufacturing facility in the world, situated on 2700 acres, encompassing over 4 million square feet of buildings, 21 On-site Supplier Companies, and over 5,000 new Team Members.•Direct responsibility for over 28,000 contractors’ safety compliance during condensed building and process equipment installation. Exceeded over 3 Million Hours with no Lost Work Days. Developed Workers Compensation strategy to manage costs to more than 62% below the National Average.•Managing over $32MM annually of capital and expense budgets.•Developed all Operating safety policies, procedures, and management systems.•Implemented Safety Strategy for entire site.•Direct and Indirect Reports of 165 FT Safety and IH Staff; Occupational Health Professionals including Physicians, PA’s, RN’s, PT’s, PTA’s, LVN’s, MA’s, Work Conditioning, Workers Compensation, and Early Symptom Investigation; and contract Security, Emergency Response and Firefighters.
