Audit Director
CurrentOversee the execution of audit research and survey. Maintain awareness of the Navy’s major internal control weaknesses and risks in area of responsibility, through meetings and networking with DON personnel at all levels; in development of the annual audit plan, including submitting, as appropriate, audit topics that address high-risk areas in DON. Oversee the development of clear and concise audit objectives and methodology for complex areas that lead to audit findings. Evaluate progress against audit plan, provide timely information to management and customers. Assign work and on-the-job training consistent with staff abilities. Review and revise draft findings. Verify that w/ps support conclusions, findings, and recommendations; and audit documentation is appropriately marked & safeguarded from unauthorized disclosure. Ensure compliance with Naval Audit Handbook for timely reviews of w/ps. Approve survey, audit programs; and cross-referenced draft and final reports. Execute audit follow-up responsibilities in accordance with Handbook and Yellow Book. Communicate with senior management in DON and DoD, and others, to justify, defend, negotiate, or settle matters involving audit conclusions, findings, or recommendations. Ensure draft findings, reports, briefings, etc., are complete, concise, and accurate. Ensure recommendations improve DON processes, readiness, or operations, or result in monetary benefits. Take actions to obtain timely management comments on audit reports. Manage aligned, engaged, and high-performing teams through leading by example and executing organizational strategic mission and goals. Create positive, safe work environment. Uphold high standards of integrity & ethical behavior. Ensure that EEO principles are adhered to. Initiate corrective actions, as necessary; & promptly address allegations of discrimination, harassment, & retaliation. Maintain a positive and professional relationship with staff and Naval Audit Service mgmt.
