I managed marketing, communications and student recruitment activities for health subjects, spanning both clinical (medicine, dentistry, nursing, orthoptics, speech and language therapy) and non-clinical (biomedicine, public health, health economics) programmes and research. My team covered areas including content production, web and social media management, events, advertising and improving access for groups that are under-represented in higher education.

I was responsible for all marketing and communications activities in biology, chemistry, maths, physics and psychology, primarily to support student recruitment and research. I led a team working on a wide range of projects across print, web, video, social media, digital advertising and internal communications.

In this expanded role I continued to work with academic departments in biology, chemistry, physics, maths and psychology by devising and delivering marketing activities to support student recruitment and research. I also contributed to internal communications initiatives.

As a founding member of the team supporting this interdisciplinary research centre, I established the Grantham Centre's visual identity and channels, and delivered communications activities to engage with researchers, students, policymakers and funders.

I supported academic departments in biology, chemistry, physics, maths and psychology with a range of copywriting and website management tasks and projects.

I was a staff writer at The Fly, and a feature writer, reviewer and Sheffield columnist at Drowned In Sound. I have also written for NME, The Quietus, Metro and The 405; ThreeWeeks (Edinburgh Festivals); and Exposed, Now Then and The Star (Sheffield).

I became a Senior Reporter within the Yorkshire Weekly Newspaper Group upon completion of my NCTJ National Certificate Examination. I was also the main journalist for the Mirfield Reporter title.

I generated, researched and wrote news and features for the Yorkshire Weekly Newspaper Group of newspapers – primarily the print and web editions of the Dewsbury Reporter and Mirfield Reporter.
