I have been working professionally in the automotive industry since I was around 19 years old, I am now 32. I got offered my first job by the owner of a Volvo Specialty shop my parents would take their cars too, he was impressed by my undertaking of an engine replacement in my 1995 Volvo 850 T5R. Apparently it was thought of as a difficult job. When I was offered the job I was attending Skyline College and learning the necessary skills to get a job in the automotive field and decided to leave and pursue full time work as a mechanic. Two years later I realized I was not getting anywhere with the job I was at and made the decision to return to the program and finish it. It was probably one of the smartest decisions I ever made and has my education has led me down a great career path. I moved around a lot with my fiance as she was deciding what she was going to study in college and this meant finding a new job often. This helped me gain experience working with a variety of people and different vehicles. Everything from Ford Rangers to Lamborghinis. I also worked as a smog technician, not only performing smog tests but diagnosing failures as well. Working as a smog tech gave me an excellent understanding of how a vehicle functions as a whole and made it easier to diagnose vehicles on an in-depth level. I am much more than just an automotive technician though. I've been an automotive enthusiast since I was 9 or 10 years old. I was a big fan of muscle cars in my younger year but as I got older my love for cars grew and I hold no brand loyalties and can appreciate a car for what it is beyond the badge. My need for more from the automotive world has grown and I have started writing as well. I am always open to learning and challenging myself to do better. Not only have I started writing but I am actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
