Head of Science – Rossmore School, Poole since September 2005 to August 2010I was leading a successful department of six teaching staff and three support staff to ensure that science is taught to an excellent standard and so ensuring that each student reaches their full potential. I had responsibility to ensure that the subject in resourced, work schemes are provided and always kept up to date. We have recently introduced Triple Science GCSE

Head of Chemistry and PGCE Curriculum Tutor – Twynham School since April 1999 till July 2005I worked closely with the Head of Science to ensure lead the teaching and learning of chemistry throughout the three key stages. I managed the resourcing and work schemes at Key Stage 5 and provided staff with training to cover new initiatives. I was the Professional Tutor at Twynham School working with the PGCE Curriculum Tutor at Southampton University to facilitate the training of 2 student teachers per term. I mentored the students regularly, arranged teaching opportunities, observe lessons and guided them through their university assessment portfolio. I wrote their final summative report which helped decide their final grade at the end of their teaching practice. At Twynham, I successfully completed the National Standard for Subject Leaders training, awarded by SWIFT and accredited to Plymouth University.
