• Appointed to the role of Facilities Services Officer due to growing concerns over the Corporate Manslaughter Act 2007 and its potential impact. Tasked with duties to ensure the Council was carrying out its statutory.
• Produced the specification, tendered, awarded and then contract administered the long term water hygiene and asbestos surveying contracts for the Council’s entire property portfolio.
• Managed the fire risk assessments and subsequent remedial actions for the Council’s properties.
• Managed & monitored the gas servicing contract for commercial properties.
• Specified and ran the EU tender for the 4 year lift maintenance and refurbishment contract for the Hampshire and IOW group of Councils. Awarded and contract administered the project resulting in budget savings of up to.
• Managed the electrical inspection project to the Council’s 2500 social housing properties using external contractors to carry out EICRs and ensured subsequent remedial works were completed.

• Appointed to the role of Estates Maintenance Manager with responsibility for provision of the maintenance of fabric as well as plant in non-housing Council property.
• Increased budgetary control and direct management responsibility for maintenance within community centres, while still managing the cleaners, building surveyors and yard operative.
• The role then evolved to re-encompass the caretakers.
• Delivered bomb awareness training to staff.

• Appointed to the role of Facilities Manager in June 1999 with responsibility to provide a complete facilities management service for all Council owned non-housing property.
• Responsible for building maintenance budgets within the Civic Offices and Depot.
• Managed 29 internal staff including cleaners, caretakers, receptionists, security guards, internal postal operatives, mayoral attendants/chauffeurs, canteen staff, building surveyors and a yard operative.
