The Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District is a Special District of the State of California established in 1923 for the purpose of designing, constructing, and operating the Golden Gate Bridge. Additionally, beginning in 1970, the District became a public transit agency with the establishment of the Golden Gate Transit bus and ferry system which provides public transit service in the area between San Francisco and Santa Rosa, CA. As Design Director for this agency, along with a staff of three graphic designers, I provided graphic design, industrial design, architectural, and photographic services to support the agency's mission. This work consisted primarily of the production of public information graphic products for the benefit of the public transit users. Additionally, our work included corporate identity management, public information displays, kiosks, vehicle livery design, facility design (eg. transit terminals), etc. I represented Golden Gate Transit in the context of a committee of my counterparts from the other major transit operators in the San Francisco Bay Area. I retired from full time work in 2003. I continue to work in a semi-retired part time basis doing special projects with focus on photo documentation work, primarily of the Seismic Retrofit work on the Golden Gate Bridge.

Western Museums Association (WMA) is a membership organization of museum and educational institutions and museum related individuals, organizations, and vendors located in the western United States and the Pacific Ocean. I am an active individual member and I continue to provide ongoing photographic services to the organization to photo document their annual conferences.

San Francisco

Helped conceive, design, and implement at the California Historical Society an exhibit about the history of the Golden Gate Bridge in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Bridge. Provided various photographic services associated with the exhibit and with the preparation of an interactive ebook about the exhibit. Also gave an historical lecture about the Bridge as one of the various programs presented during the run of the exhibit which was from February thru October 2012.

As an adjunct to my work as Design Director at the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District I participated in APTA activities including being a member of this committee. This committee surveyed, evaluated, and published handbooks pertaining to public transit user information aids. These aids included transit vehicle signage and livery, transit facility information displays, user information documents, telephone information centers, etc. I participated in all of these activities via correspondence and meetings with other committee members and attendance at formal committee meetings held in various US cities, usually in conjunction with annual APTA conferences. I also presented papers to the Transportation Research Board (TRB).

As a consultant, I assisted this architectural firm with their design of stadiums. I wrote and implemented a computer program to calculate stadium profiles and sight lines. I also conducted seminars in their offices to educate their staff about developments in computer aided design.
