Senior Commissioned Examiner
CurrentThe central mission of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is to make markets for consumer financial products and services work for Americans . As an Examiner for the Bureau, most of my work is conducted at large depository and non-depository institutions. I either lead a team of examiners or assist as an examiner to evaluate adequacy of Board and/or management oversight of the compliance program; to evaluate adequacy of the regulated entity's compliance program, including policies, procedures, controls, staff expertise, and training; to examine the regulated entity's audit procedures, reports, and work papers, if necessary.Other important work of a CFPB examiner job is to determine if the regulated entity is in compliance with applicable laws or regulations, to conduct reviews to determine that the regulated entity does not have unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices and to conduct fair lending reviews. Lastly, a few key communication skills of an examiner are holding discussions with regulated entity senior management about examination findings, generating examination report, and communicating critical issues to the Boards of Directors and/or regulated entity senior management to include matter requiring attention of the supervised entity.
