As a student in Columbia's post-baccalaureate program in Classics, I am pursuing full-time study of Latin and Greek to prepare for graduate work in the field.

The New Criterion, where I served as the Hilton Kramer Fellow, is a monthly review of the arts and intellectual life devoted to bringing audiences the most incisive criticism being written today. In addition to regular editorial duties for the print magazine, I coordinate and oversee the online wing of our publication, serving as the primary editor for our web-only “Dispatch” pieces. I also assist with publicity, fundraising, and event coordination, helping ensure the magazine’s position at the vanguard of incisive criticism being written today.

- Served as a teaching assistant for the Writing Workshop course in a highly intensive, 5-week summer program for rising high school seniors.- Worked in tandem with a master teacher to formulate class plans, present material, and guide discussion, even taking full responsibility of the classroom on certain days.- Handled dorm duties, recreation sessions, and other extracurricular activities when not in the classroom.

- Began with weekly coverage of teams such as volleyball and women’s soccer, interviewing players and coaches with an eye toward crafting season-long narratives to sustain interest.- Stepped in as an Editor in Spring 2017 to help coordinate and edit articles from our staff writers as well as arrange the section layout on Adobe InDesign.- Took charge of launching the new “Feature Articles” portion of the sports section in Fall 2017, writing on topics that ranged from Middlebury’s 2017 sweep of the men’s tennis national championships to mountain biking in Afghanistan and the recent controversy over kneeling during the national anthem in the NFL.

- Participated in the day-to-day operations of one of the most prominent literary journals in America, curating online content and assisting with the publication of issues 38.2 and 38.3.- Reviewed and critiqued over 100 fiction submissions in weekly meetings with one of the two Fiction Editors.- Interviewed editors from all three genres (fiction, non-fiction, and poetry) for a writer’s guide to be published permanently on the website.
