Profile bio

About Robert Faller

I have worked in the high tech industry since 1985. Yes, that means I am old. It also means I have a lot of experience. Training and education are foundational. Certification is good. Experience can only be gained over time. Starting in 1985 I have spent time working for technology leaders Data General, Sun Microsystems, Oracle, Microsoft, and now ForgeRock (I believe it is considered good practice to be part of at least one startup). For the last 10+ years my focus has been in the identity space – directory services, identity and access management, and security. ForgeRock is a natural next step for me in this technology space. What do I do? I provide parental-level advice based on years of experience: You may not want to hear it, you may not want to do it, but it is in your best interest.

Listed skills include Cloud Computing, Virtualization, Unix, Enterprise Software, and 17 others.

Technical Architect

Current

San Francisco, Ca, Us

Primary responsibility: help ForgeRock Partners and customers be successful. In this role I work with Support Engineering and Customer Success Managers on issues that may be outside of a product flaw. Particularly tricky or complex issues that may be non-technical as well as technical are where my skills are applied. Often times it is a matter of bringing the various parties involved in a project together to get clarification of the real issues which leads to a plan forward.I also work with Partners and customers to hopefully get ahead of potential issues. Architecture guidance and sharing deployment best practices are common topics. This may require the inclusion of the business directives and goals as this will drive priorities and deliverables. As a result of these experiences I worked closely with others in creating and delivering monthly focus sessions that enable an open discussion on relevant subject matter such as load testing, upcoming product features, and how to fail successfully. The sessions provide an opportunity to interact directly with the ForgeRock Technical Team, Product Managers and Engineers as well as their peers about topics they would like to cover. The sessions include technical presentations and demonstrations delivered by ForgeRock. These are not marketing or sales events; the sessions are for affiliated Partners and subscribed ForgeRock customers only. The focus sessions can result in white papers and other content that can be shared with those who are not able to join a session. Other aspects of this role include providing feedback to Engineering and Product Management about how the ForgeRock platform is being used, analyzing trouble tickets for ways to improve, developing scripts and/or Java code to assist with problem solving, and documenting root cause analysis with possible ways to avoid future issues. My role at ForgeRock allows for the opportunity to use both my technical and non-technical skills.

Jun 2014 - Present

Senior Program Manager

Redmond, Washington, Us

Work directly with customers, Microsoft field personnel, and Microsoft partners to enable the adoption of Windows Azure Active Directory. With services and applications moving into the cloud it is only natural that identities follow the same path. As a Program Manager in the Windows Azure Active Directory (WAAD) team one of my functions was to work with organizations to better understand their requirements and business drivers especially around identity and access management. This feedback is critical to Microsoft and the WAAD team. It was also my function to share with organizations what is available from Microsoft in the ever evolving identity arena. I was always willing to discuss how identity is the new control surface. Hand-on experience includes: developing programs to help educate and excite the various target audiences on the offerings in Windows Azure Active Directory. This includes the coordination and delivery of multi-day workshops to uncover and detail an organization’s requirements and priorities. Also provide direct feedback to feature Program Managers so they can better align their deliverables with customer requirements and needs.I thoroughly enjoyed working with a great group of people, evangelizing a great solution, and learned a ton.
