I routinely apply the principles of DQO when working with a new client to establish the real characterisation requirements. • Solution derivation – With broad knowledge of the full range of radiometric techniques available by the wider supply chain, including their relative strengths and weaknesses, I can lead the selection of the best possible solution.• Project delivery including supplier management – Significant experience of delivering projects in-house and through supply chain including commercial management and cross-functional team leadership.• Analysis and technical reporting – Expertise in a wide range of commonly used analytical techniques and technical author with numerous publications. • Quality management and assurance – Previously authored a QMS for a delivery team and led multiple quality audits. • Technical development and innovation – Worked on multiple technical projects and led the development of VCADS, an innovative system that is currently having significant impact at Sellafield. • POCO and decommissioning expertise – Having delivered multiple radiometric projects in support of remediation, I can offer insight on best practise for these challenges.

I am the Characterisation Technical Lead (CTL) within the Radiometric Systems Group Characterisation Team (RSGCT) at Sellafield Ltd.Having a strong background in nuclear physics / radiation measurement, I lead on technical aspects of the characterisation team. Main accountabilities:• Principal expert for radiometric characterisation projects, both delivered in-house and bought in from supply chain.• Technology development lead for the team - Oversight role for all radiometric innovation & technical development. • Gatekeeper of key technical decisions for high quality / high business risk projects. • Manager of Physics A team – Line management of number of physicists ranging from graduates to senior specialists. • Programme Area Lead for Magnox characterisation – Managing portfolio of work at operating unit level.• VCADS lead – Lead for the development and use of the Versatile Collimator And Deployment System, Sellafield’s primary characterisation tool for POCO and decommissioning. Within the same team, I previously carried out a number of key roles:• Characterisation Services Manager – Managed multi-supplier framework and introduced a mini-competition in line with OJEU principles. General contract and relationship management.• Quality Manager – Introduced tiered QMS system for in-house delivery of complex characterisation tasks. Supported major supply chain quality audit and led internal quality reviews on in-house projects. • Technical representative on numerous procurement boards for major framework tender exercises. • Technology project lead – RSG lead on numerous innovation and tech dev projects, including academic supervision for industrial MSc & PhDs. • Training – Co-produced and delivered training courses on nuclear / radiometric physics to new starters / engineers / apprentices etc. • Physics lead for maintenance of several bespoke / complex installed radiometric instruments, some of which perform safety related / safety mechanism roles.
