Software Engineer (Backend, Data Science, Etl, Web)
Cincinnati Area
In the beginning I was on on the team building the tools our partners utilize in order to leverage their brand on the Pinterest platform. I worked on the entire stack, concentrating in Rails on the backend, Ember.js on the front, and PostgreSQL for the database. We were rapidly implementing unit testing and behavioral testing on the product in order to increase reliability and provided a more stable product for the partners, and actively expanded the responsibility and work I took up at any opportunity. Other work includes everything from managing contribution to open-source projects we utilized, working on Ruby Gems, and expanding on our capabilities when it came to building a platform to future-proof our testing and optimize it in the long term.Later, working on the data science team I was the primary developer. Projects ranged from optimizing large algorithmic operations to designing API's and building front-end products to allow users to consume the analyses that were done by the team, as well as making libraries for ETL processes to be managed and frameworks for the API creation. The technologies include Hadoop and Hbase, Chronos/Mesos, heavy usage of NumPy and SciPy, general purpose Python, Flask, CherryPy, Redis, Redshift, Postgresql, and Elastic MapReduce, as well as Ruby and Ruby on Rails and JavaScript.
