This is my installation speech in front of Parliament:[…] The spiralling cost of pension, health and social care for the elderly and the disabled, means that Britain faces bankruptcy, on tens of billions of pounds of debt.The ageing population is forcing the public purse on an unsustainable path, unless we, as a society, accept severe budget changes. Simple spending cuts and increased tax pressure will not work – all those short-sighted measures have already been tried and tested on our loyal citizens, and they have failed.This is why I come to power today, to bring about the reforms that our predecessors have shied away from, to stop kicking the can forward. I undertake to lead this government with unprecedented determination, leaving no stone unturned, no futile privilege unchecked.We will strip-search the finances of Britain, rallying every resource, saving what can be saved and exploiting what can be exploited. We will sow the seeds of a new land of success and prosperity. We believe in innovation and will fund research again. We will teach the basics of future technologies to our young generations so that they may find new ways to live and work. This is what we owe to our children, this is what NewGo policies are all about.
