Supervised site preparation and clearing, while protecting all Longleaf Pine. Installed, maintained, and inspected stormwater and erosion control measures during removal activities as well as during a stoppage for Reticulated Flatwoods Salamander breeding season. Designed and implemented sampling based upon ITRC ISM protocol for stockpile characterization prior to use as fill.•Extensive experience writing technical reports, generating figures and tabulating analytical data. Reports include: SAPs, biological opinions, FDOT CSERs, monitoring reports, and NPDES discharge letters. Performed administrative records searches. Produced figures using GIS software. Tabulated data from unformatted EDDs into usable analytical summary tables.•Created databases to streamline and optimize equipment and records management for the entire company.

During the initial phase of my internship, work was centered on the Furman Lake Restoration. Tasks completed include:•Installed biologs at the inlet drainage mouth and along the Lake to extend the shoreline•Improved drainage from manicured lawn to Lake by adding rocks and gravel to slow run-off and by planting species native to South Carolina to encourage infiltration via plant roots•Planted a riparian buffer along the entire north side of the lake to recreate a natural buffer zone•Maintained the extensive garden area in cooperation with the Furman Lake Restoration ProjectThe focus of the second phase of my internship was to cultivate an understanding of environmentally friendly and responsible site design as well as to gain experience operating equipment and implementing improvements. Activities accomplished:•Read and interpreted a construction drawing depicting a xeriscaped residential area•Graded site using an excavator and front loader•Improved drainage from the street to the property by installing riprap to prevent erosion at the site•Created a buffer zone to promote drainage from the site to a nearby creek

•Cultivated various strains of fungi by: Pasteurizing and preparing substrate Inoculating the substrate with a specific fungus Preserving and controlling an environment which would be conducive to growth•Designed and performed an experiment where I compared two types of fungi (Trametes versicolor and Pleurotus ostreatus) to a control group to test hypothesis that mycelia could be used to remediate the bacterial count in Furman Lake•Tested and analyzed bacterial levels using IDEXX Colilert and Enterolert in all three groups•Used statistical analysis to determine viability of mycoremediation using these strains of fungi
