• During the initial phase of my internship, work was centered on the Furman Lake Restoration. Tasks completed include:
• Installed biologs at the inlet drainage mouth and along the Lake to extend the shoreline
• Improved drainage from manicured lawn to Lake by adding rocks and gravel to slow run-off and by planting species native to South Carolina to encourage infiltration via plant roots
• Planted a riparian buffer along the entire north side of the lake to recreate a natural buffer zone

• Cultivated various strains of fungi by: Pasteurizing and preparing substrate Inoculating the substrate with a specific fungus Preserving and controlling an environment which would be conducive to growth
• Designed and performed an experiment where I compared two types of fungi (Trametes versicolor and Pleurotus ostreatus) to a control group to test hypothesis that mycelia could be used to remediate the bacterial count.
• Tested and analyzed bacterial levels using IDEXX Colilert and Enterolert in all three groups
