I am currently working as the GIS Manager for the SC Ports Authority (SCPA) in Charleston, South Carolina. The SCPA owns and operates public seaport facilities in Charleston and Georgetown, as well as Inland Ports in Greer and Dillon. My role has included constructing the GIS infrastructure for the authority from the ground up, as well as creating asset management systems, cartographic projects, and other geographic products as needed.

I was the GIS Manager for the City of Cayce. Cayce is a city within the Central Midlands region of South Carolina with a population of roughly 14,000 people. I was responsible for GIS administration, maintenance, and development across the entirety of the city. I also managed external contractors and assisted with the legal oversight of our data usage. I was employed within the Utilities Department of the city, and many of my activities catered to this department. As GIS continued to evolve at Cayce, it was my hope that I could turn our city into a model for geospatial technology for the entire Southeast, and in many ways I feel that I was successful.

I was employed as the GIS Analyst/Technician for the Utilities Department of the City of Cayce. Cayce is a city within the Central Midlands region of South Carolina with a population of roughly 14,000 people. I was responsible for establishing a GIS inventory of the city's entire utilities network, as well as providing cartographic support, data management, and GIS development assistance. I was also heavily involved in creating new geospatial products for the Utilities Department, as well as for the city as a whole. I have a great interest in leveraging new geomatic technologies in pursuit of these duties.

The Division of Medicaid Policy Research (MPR) is an interdisciplinary, applied research team within the Institute for Families in Society that conducts research and policy analysis on health and family issues that affect South Carolina and the nation. MPR provides researchers, policy makers, and practitioners with opportunities to work together to identify and promote the adoption of policies and practices informed by research. MPR further translates research into practice. Our initiatives focus on applied research studies, secondary data analyses, complex and large-scale database management, and process and outcome evaluation to guide the development of evidence-based interventions and quality improvement strategies.My contributions to the institute included data management, spatial analysis, and cartographic design. I have a special interest in cartographic representation and methodologies, and the pursuit of these duties was meant to enhance the work done by the institute.

Central Midlands Council of Governments (CMCOG) currently consists of 15 member governments and serves in excess of 725,000 people by providing a regional forum, which allows local officials to seek out common goals and address regional concerns. Today, CMCOG provides a variety of local and regional planning services and technical assistance to local governments within the four-county region.While working at CMCOG, I was responsible for data entry, geocoding, and spatial analysis of geographic information gathered from local governments. I was also responsible for field data collection and the production of periodic reports for the COG. Additionally, I assisted the GIS, Planning, Transportation, and Information Services departments as needed.
