Robert S. Heaney, Ph.D, D.Phil. is Professor of Theology and Mission at Virginia Theological Seminary.Heaney travels, speaks, and consults widely throughout the world on issues of Anglican identity, interculturality, and witness. In 2022, he was awarded the Cross of St. Augustine by the Archbishop of Canterbury for services to the Anglican Communion. As well as being the author of numerous articles and contributor to various multi-authored volumes he is also the author of, 'From Historical to Critical Post-Colonial Theology' (Pickwick, 2015) and ‘Post-Colonial Theology: Finding God and Each Other Amidst the Hate’ (Cascade, 2019).https://amzn.to/2LdHmCLBefore coming to VTS, Heaney served as the first Director of Postgraduate Research and Studies at St. John’s University of Tanzania, where he was also a Senior Lecturer in the School of Theology and Religious Studies. He has taught courses on Anglicanism, missiology, post-colonial theology, philosophical theology, and African and global theology. In addition to those areas, his research interests also include Mission Theology, World Christianity, and Post-Colonial Theology.
