My consulancy offers expertise has been accrued from over 35 years in the Nuclear Industry, principally in R&D and Technology strategy. My work has focused on waste management and spent fuel management in the UK and the US but my roles as Chief Scientist and Head of the BNFL Corporate Lab have brought me into close contact with all aspects of the nuclear fuel cycle including conversion, enrichment, fuel, reactors, both conventional and advanced systems as well as disposal and environmental issues. My experience spans Technology Strategy and selecting optimal technical approaches to complex challenges, supporting projects, reviewing and appraising existing projects, particularly those that might be described as troubled, devising recovery strategies, setting in place new ventures and projects, together with devising and managing development programs to mitigate technical risk.I have deployed these skills in setting up businesses, supporting projects and bids, due diligence for acquisitions and partnerships and reviewing and refocusing projects that are regarded as 'troubled'.I have also been involved in cultural change, particularly moving from an Academic or Government Institution culture to a more commercial approach and have something of a reputation for innovation both in a technical and organizational sense.These skills and attributes have seen me working in and with the UK and North America as well as Europe, Asia and Australia. I have also represented the UK at numerous venues including the IAEA and NEA and have been extensively involves in the UK waste disposal strategy as well as supporting the UK research base.
