My responsibilities include:- the oversight, mentoring, supervision, and scheduling of professional and technical staff; - the oversight of approximately 100 million dollars in allocated construction funds spread out over 15+ ongoing construction projects within Nueces County;- coordination with contractors, other agencies, citizens, elected officials, and/or utility owners to answer inquiries and resolve issues that arise; - providing technical support during bidding by interpreting design plans and documenting issues;- justifying, reviewing and negotiating change orders, including preparing and sealing modified plan sheets;- reviewing and approving fabricator and contractor shop drawings;- drafting, managing and interpreting Agreements (e.g. Municipal Maintenance Agreements)- investigating, documenting and following up with citizen complaints, inquiries, and comments;- developing plans, providing estimates, technical data, and support for construction and maintenance activities to meet budgeting requirements;- reviewing driveway permit requests by analyzing changes to drainage;- developing and implementing a short-range (4-year) plan with a strategy to improve roadway conditions within Nueces County utilizing maintenance crews and/or contract work. As part of this plan, I am responsible for recommending or determining the best action by utilizing roadway data and field inspection. This plan allocates yearly responsibilities to maintenance supervisors and maintenance contractors. After plan submission, I am responsible for scheduling and generating maintenance contracts for bidding. I design and prepare plans for in-house and/or contractor bidding utilizing the Department's budgeting allocations to maximize improvements within the budget;
