I am an emotionally intelligent, self-aware communicator who dynamically leads a large team of volunteers and paid staff for a national leader in the charity sector. My values - which form part of my professional practice framework - include fairness, inclusivity, and, overarchingly, compassion. I care deeply about connection; I believe that nobody should feel alone in this world. For the past 10 years I have led a team of 70+ volunteers and up to 11 paid staff as Centre Supervisor and Service Lead for the Gold Coast Lifeline branch, managing the 13 11 14 crisis support and suicide prevention helpline and suicide bereavement programs and community engagement initiatives. I have strengths in volunteer engagement and management, stakeholder engagement, and clinical supervision. I am particularly gifted in leading and contributing to crisis support and suicide prevention practice quality and consistency both in Queensland and the broader, national Lifeline network, through call coaching supervision; developing and delivering professional development; and contributing to policy and procedure, national practice tips, newsletters, and various Lifeline Australia initiatives focused on strengthening and shaping Lifeline’s crisis support practice framework. I am known for my ability to be both no-nonsense and direct as well as gentle and supportive in my guidance of my volunteers and paid staff. I have a keen interest in language and I am informed by various approaches and disciplines including traditional psychology, narrative practices, and the growing field of positive psychology. I have a Graduate Diploma of Psychological Science (Honors equivalent) from Bond University and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Writing Studies from the University of Queensland. I will undertake the Master of Suicidology through Griffith University’s renowned and world-leading Australian Institute of Suicide Research and Prevention in March, 2023.Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society, member number 166811.
