• Won a contract with the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) to conduct seven focus groups with hard-to-reach populations in the West Baltimore community to understand their healthcare experiences and how to increase uptake of UMMCs population health services. This work included developing a discussion guide, data collection protocol, facilitating the focus groups, analyzing the data in Nvivo with a thematic analysis, drafting a report, and presenting our findings to C-suite executives.• Serving as a task lead on complex project to conduct environmental scans and policy analyses for the US Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Minority Health (OMH) Advancing Health Equity Policy Analysis Support (AHEPAS) contract. This includes writing a summary report detailing the overall trends for all US states, islands, and territories health strategic plans through an equity lens. • Designed an equity policy research framework for evaluating policy and performing policy analyses on pertinent policies to HHS OMH. This work has resulted in 8 equity-specific policy analyses and presented a training to 60 participants on using a modified version of the CDC Policy Analysis Framework. • Developing a Community of Practice with key state-level stakeholders, OMH, Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), and National Association of State Offices of Minority Health (NASOMH) to advance health-equity based policy best practices across state, island, and territory health departments. • Supporting business development efforts including monitoring public resources for business opportunities (GSA eBuy) and responding to market research, requests for information (RFI), and requests for Proposal (RFP). This work has led to winning 3 projects with Federal and private clients.

• Led multiple health innovation pilots for the VHA Center for Care and Payment Innovation (CCPI), and shaped the office’s organizational strategy. Tasks included project management, research, and strategy consulting. • Facilitated sessions of the Presidential Coronavirus Commission for Safety and Quality in Nursing Homes which focused on determining areas of greatest need in the immediate term and actions to address them. This work led to the development of 27 recommendations for the President and CMS to consider, a majority of which were implemented. • Managed the coordination between CMS MIDS measure developer contractors and the Patient and Family Engagement Network to recruit patients and caregivers to engage in the development of clinical quality measures. • Designed a monitoring and evaluation strategy for the VHA Suicide Prevention Program to measure short-term and long-term impact, including determination of metrics, development of a database, detailed data collection process plan, and implementation of the data collection and reporting process. The database aids the production of monthly dashboards, pre-populated presentation slides, and talking points for clients to present to VHA leadership and Congressional members. • Conducted a retrospective evaluation of HRSA’s Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) through a mixed-method approach of synthesizing key stakeholder interviews, focus groups, literature reviews, bibliometrics, legislative analysis, grant analysis, and performance measure data to understand the impact of their activities. • Facilitated VHA Diffusion of Excellence events for dissemination and replication of promising best practices to new VA Medical Centers. • Aided CMS’s implementation of the price transparency rule with policy research, development, and management including the development of a monitoring and enforcement strategy and strategic communications to explain the requirements of the law to various stakeholders.

• Analyzing and developing written responses to regulatory and private sector proposals, including comments on proposed rules, letters to government officials, and National Quality Forum measure endorsements. • Representing the ACS at meetings with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Office of the National Coordinator for health Information Technology (ONC), and other agencies of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.• Creating educational materials on how to be successful in federal quality programs, such as the Quality Payment Program (QPP) and Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). • Manages the Surgical Quality Alliance coalition including leading the development of whitepapers reports and organizing meetings to bring together key policymakers and innovators with medical society staff members. • Serving as a liaison to national quality organizations such as the National Quality Forum, National Quality Registry Network, and the Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement.• Monitor developments, attend meetings, and respond to public and private proposals related to advancing surgical care through the use of Health Information Technology.
