My role is to establish the care farm site, compile the operational procedures (including industry compliance, health and safety, policies etc), maintain and improve the site to provide a practical resource for people with learning difficulties, disabilities and mental health problems to gain skills and confidence that will help them progress and enhance their personal development. I work alongside our staff and private and corporate volunteers to provide support for clients and identify opportunities to generate new business. All Over The World

Just finished sailing 12,000 miles across the Pacific Ocean and 2.5 years of circumnavigating the world without flying. Before this 'third gap year' I decided to take time to study agricultural science and work as an organic farm manager (livestock) to better understand agri-environmental issues from a practical perspective. I managed a pig farm in Canada for 8 months during this trip. Prior to this 2.5 year break I lived and worked in the French Alps and managed the maintenance on a country estate in Hertfordshire.

Church Farm Ardeley is a working farm open to the public with an on-site shop, cafe, pub and butcher. Courses and events are ran throughout the year. My role was to ensure the site was maintained and prepared in readiness for the public and to communicate with other departments and staff.I held responsibility for a team of up to 8 staff and interns who performed the day to day keeping of several thousand animals. My role was to keep maintenance checks, comply with health and safety, and to comply with animal movement, vetinary records and other regulatory compliance. It was a very enjoyable role, often with long but rewarding days. I chose to leave to take a once in a lifetime chance to sail and travel overland around the world.www.churchfarmardeley.co.uk
