Oversaw a Data Administration department in the CIGNA Healthcare division. Developed software to track and manage healthcare utilization. These applications were successful and robust enough that they were marketed and sold to other insurance companies. •Evaluate, approve, and track all logical model and physical database changes of medical review and claims systems, their associated data warehouses and data marts and ultimately oversaw data movement to a clinical insights warehouse.•Managed a staff of up to three Enterprise and Application Data Administrators and a Junior Database Administrator. •Use ER/win and Modelmart to model and track changes in Oracle, DB2, SQL Server and Oracle RDB databases.•Promote consistent use of data structures to facilitate application code reuse, consistency of development, and ease of end user reporting.•Developed Data Dictionaries that included both business definitions of entities and attributes and also system level definitions. •Create, maintain, and implement documentation containing best practices, policies, and standards.•Metadata release coordinator for up to four major and eight minor releases per year. •Publish models on internal website for companywide distribution to alleviate individual requests and improve productivity of the code development, data administration, and business teams. •Lead database implementation meetings for the purpose of database change review, insure adherence to best practice models, and future scalability.•Gather business requirements from front line application users through senior business management using individual interviews, group meetings, and guided modeling sessions. •Led the database initiative to integrate five Strategic Business Units across three lines of business into a single database to save the company money by reducing infrastructure costs. •Modifications needed for one SBU integration release resulted in a 20% increase in the number of database tables.
