As the Community Coordinator I lead initiatives to engage preselected neighborhoods that were designated so by local government authorities and our organizational managers. These low-income, high-crime and minority concentrated populations became our fertile ground to sow social capital. My work consisted of establishing first contact with neighbors, gaining rapport, identifying both the neighborhoods, and individual citizens strengths, we used the (ABCD) Asset Based Community Development, and (CCD) Christian Community Development models. Once indigenous leaders had been contacted my next injunction was to enroll them as organizational allies, through our volunteer training process of which I was responsible for its management. Data collection and entry into specialized software were other elements I utilized to keep track of my progress. On a seasonal basis I was responsible for writing grants to United Way and other funders.

In-Patient Chemical Dependency Tech/Transporter- Primary role within this organization included doing in-take screenings, which consisted of interviewing persons/clients either over the phone or as a walk-in. Such interviews were the first step in their being accepted into the in-patient drug rehabilitation program. Once in, my responsibilities were to monitor their movements, transport them to meetings, and other similarly important appointments, engage with them appropriately, and as most of the employees and administrators were, and I too, we modeled for them what it looked like to be in recovery and to become a responsible members of society.

In this position I was responsible for both training and leading the development of formerly incarcerated persons and recovering addicts back into the workforce. My primary role in this capacity called for the overseeing of the maintenance/janitorial department wherein I managed the successful completion of selected job sites. My duties consisted of training sessions in soft-skills development, ordering supplies, transporting workers, and documenting timesheets on a daily/weekly basis.
