Graduate Civil & Structural Engineer within HDR Consulting Ltd.

As a nighttime operative within the JLP, my current employment consists of three key areas: stock replenishment, stock management and picking online orders. In this fast-paced role, I am responsible for unloading delivery trucks, sorting and organizing products, placing them on the shelves and facing the shelves to ensure all is neat and tidy.Additionally, I also perform a number of stock management roles; off-selling unsold items, date checking and inventory management, which ensures that the shelves are properly stocked, the system is up to date and we have the correct inventory on the shop floor, on order or in the warehouse to meet a constantly shifting demand.In the picking online area, I use a handheld device to track inventory and select items from shelves, substituting items when necessary to ensure the customer's order is fulfilled to the best of our stock's abilities. All work in this area is done under timed and monitored conditions to ensure the required speed and quality. This has allowed me to become highly efficient with my time and organisation, constantly seeking ways to improve my processes and workflows while maintaining a high level of accuracy, which has resulted in me being one of the fastest pickers within my branch.

As one of 12 VLAs our team was responsible for operating over 1000 rooms in the Edinburgh Napier University halls as short-term, self-catering hotel suites, for international language schools and tourists, during some of Edinburgh's busiest tourist months.My role required ensuring that all guests had a pleasant and comfortable stay. To achieve this, I regularly communicated with guests to ensure that their needs were being met, and I addressed any issues or concerns they may have had. Additionally, relying on a broad and in-depth knowledge of Edinburgh transport networks, various FRINGE festivities, well-located restaurants and tourist attractions, I always aimed to provide tailored, high-quality advice to suit any guest.In addition to guest services, I managed the day-to-day operations of the hotel, ensuring all rooms and equipment were "show ready" weeks or sometimes months in advance. This involved overseeing inventory levels, managing the booking system, and coordinating with maintenance staff to ensure that all repairs and maintenance tasks were completed in a timely and efficient manner.I was also responsible for supervising the cleaning staff and ensuring that all rooms were cleaned and maintained to a high standard. This involved co-ordinating and implementing cleaning schedules, training staff, and regularly monitoring their performance to ensure that all cleaning tasks were completed to a high standard.Overall, my role as a VLA required excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment. It was a challenging but rewarding position that provided me with the opportunity to develop a range of valuable skills and gain valuable experience in the hospitality industry.

In this role I was considered a scholarship student, offering a diverse range of support to new and returning students, within Edinburgh Napier University halls. This involved; organising and running events, offering mental health support and general guidance through drop-in personal meetings, ensuring site security and repairing or replacing site equipment.

Under my apprenticeship within a family-owned bodywork repair shop, I had the opportunity to cover a diverse range of responsibilities. These included performing repairs at various stages of the process, managing customers and bookings, liaising with suppliers and contractors, as well as performing and writing estimates or invoices.

High pressure customer service role, in one of Dumfries and Galloway's busiest pubs.

As a bakery prepper and cleaning crew employee i was in charge of preparing numerous items for the baking process; weighing measurements, greasing tins, cataloguing frozen items and performing piping work. Additionally, I was responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bakery by sanitizing or cleaning down bakery equipment, mixing bowls, work surfaces and floor spaces.
