Kangaroo Rugby League Club was formed in 1931 and was a foundation club of the Cairns District Rugby League. Kangaroos has had great success over the years winning numerous premierships, with a highlight being in 1956 being undefeated club champions and premiers. An original 1931 jersey is on display in the club along with pictures of the 1931 and 1956 teams. Our recent success was in 2013 being club champions and premiers after a 26 years drought.Kangaroos Juniors was first formed as Western Suburbs in 1967 when the present grounds were developed. In 1980 the club's name was changed to West Kangaroos and in 1990 the name was changed again to the present Kangaroos Junior Rugby League. Our club patron Mr. John Brennan was in the first committee formed in 1967 and is still helping out around the club.We are proud of the many players who have passed through the club and gone on to play at State, National & International level. Past Kangaroos Juniors players include Brent Webb, Justin Hodges and Ashley Graham.Each September the club hosts the highly successful Tassell Trophy Challenge, an Under 14's carnival, which attracts teams from throughout the state and in recent years New South Wales and the Northern Territory.At Roos we strive to develop teamwork, discipline, respect and loyalty in our players.Modified Rugby League Rules, Safe Play Code and Codes of Conduct for all members is strictly enforced at all times.Kangaroos Junior Rugby League Club is very proud of its family based traditions and values, and strive to provide the highest standard coaching and support network for junior rugby league players of all ages and abilities.
