About Robert Mckerrow
Since I've started work as a bus boy in a breakfast café in downtown Atlanta, I've always dreamed of doing more for others. Selfless service is one of the most important values of the United States Army to me. I know my career with them will be shorter than I think, so in order to look ahead, I want to put myself in a position that will allow to provide the ones I care about most. As long as my body and family are willing, I plan to retire from the military in 2033.In the meantime, I have held a variety of positions to include organizational leadership of over 40 personnel of various skillsets, livelihoods, and challenges. During my time as a commander, I developed white papers and adjustments to the Army's method of training communications units. My materials is taught at the Captains Career Course in Fort Eisenhower, Georgia to teach young Captains on how to train and manage their formations. As a staff officer, I experimented and developed rudimentary solutions in austere and combat situations. My proudest achievement was giving my tactical operations center the ability to watch the same drone feed on multiple different networked devices while not increasing bandwidth usage. In addition I was able to move our battlefield information and tracking from a closed on-premise solution to a hybrid cloud solution that could be viewed by other relevant tactical units in the deployed theater.Since I have returned from deployments, I took my studies more seriously, recently graduating with a Masters in Information Technology Management from Western Governors University. Still wanting to expand my knowledge and skills from my Software Engineering days, I will be attending the Data Systems Engineer Course and will obtain certifications and experience for CISM, CySA+, Python, AWS, and Google Cloud.
Listed skills include Leadership, Project Management, Programming, Scala, and 3 others.
