Middle Distance is the umbrella company from which I conduct both my personal design practice and contract design roles with external companies. Originally established as a one man operation and an outlet for product ideas without an obvious client, we have now grown to a team of 3, designing and producing our own experimental materials and product, which we retail direct to consumer from our base in Glasgow. Working with the head of outerwear, head of design, creative director and president of the company to create directional, design forward and youth centric pieces, across the Gore-tex, Polartec, Windstopper, and North Face collections, as well as contributing on collaborations, mailine wovens and accessories with the wider design team.

Research, design and devlopment on the final three seasons of SI's experimental Shadow project Sub-Collection. Working in a team of four alongside the head designer, graphic designer and textile specialist, I designed outerwear, wovens, jersey and some knitwear, working within SI's Ravarino production setup, in the process gaining deep insight into garment dyeing, experimental garment construction and the cutting edge of material developments.

Working with BA Fashion design and fashion Marketing students on Photoshop, Illustrator and portfolio presentation skills. Teaching both on-site and remotely (during the pandemic), this position equipped me with an ability to lead an entire workshop/class, and work one-to one, understanding different abilities, needs and backgrounds on a personal level. This has been immensely informative to my Design work since.In addition at Westminster I worked on the initial archiving phases of the Westminster menswear Archive around the time of its establishment in 2016-17. I spent time here cataloguing acquisitions and providing guidance in which core historic menswear staples to acquire to ensure the archive was comprehensive, wide ranging and representative of the recent history of menswear.

Concept, research, design and development from sketch through prototying to production on the Maharishi Accessories collection. Working with between the creative director and factory in China, I designed and developed a range of continuative a-seasonal bags, belts and small product for this historic London streetwear brand.

Beginning from my internship at SI during the summer of my MA, I worked remotely on new bag concepts for the company from the point where i returned to London to complete my studies. Developing both my own prototypes and working with the Bagjack facility in Berlin, i proposed new material developments, extreme hybrid showpieces and a comprehensive range of continuative accessories - ultimately refining a commercial edit from this and developing the brand's core continuative range of garment dyed rucksack, holdall and shoulder bag.
