Designing systems and processes for large thermal assets in GB marketEnsuring that the IT and Telecoms strategies are aligned to the Business StrategyMaintain an appropriate IT Architecture and Telecoms Infrastructure for TradingEnsure appropriate Roadmaps for all technologies & applications are in placeEnsure that functional and technical changes to the architecture are managed and governed appropriatelyContribute, as part of the management team, to the strategic direction of IT&BP in G&WMEnsure appropriate Governance structures in place and managed effectivelyEnsure that there are appropriate Support and Maintenance models with Service providers to meet Generation needsManage relationships between project and business

• Working as part of a 24*7 operations team on a full shift rotation basis• Despatching our UK supply portfolio• Bidding in our Irish supply portfolio into the SEM market• Re-optimising the plant and interconnector trading position whilst expertly managing our exposure to volatile and punitive system imbalance charges, through optimal despatch of our assets and expert analysis of market data.• Maximising revenue through UK system Balancing Mechanism by strategic profiling of asset portfolio • Optimal balancing of the gas and power supply/demand position requirements on a• continuous ½ hourly basis• Trading through Power Exchanges• Continuous re-assessment of our supply/demand position and risks due to a minimum of 8 demand changes per day, potential plant failures and volatile market conditions

• Develop, maintain and communicate a set of technical standards that support ESB IT activities • Participate in pre-business-case ITTs and high level project design activities to ensure alignment with standards • Approve compliance with or variance from the standards for all IT projects, across all ESBIG departments. • Develop, promote and control standards for IT systems, thereby reducing costs associated with duplication and integration of heterogeneous applications • Quality assure IT requirements to allow projects to develop a clear set of deliverables backed up by a design that is achievable and fit for purpose
