I believe that my philosophy of administration must be built upon a set of core beliefs that all administrators should embrace in order to be successful and lead a climate of positive change within their school community. Beliefs that foster innovative leadership which directly leads to student achievement and shows respect for the dignity and worth of all school stakeholdersThe first is that an administrator should be a visionary leader that provides development and methods of implementation which lead to achievement of district goals and objectives. The vision should be consistent with the mission and produce a climate of acceptance that promotes efficiency and consistency.A good leader is a collaborator who fosters teamwork and encourages dialogue which honestly looks at positive and negative aspects of a situation in order to produce a sound and viable solution or approach. A team approach is one that has the courage to support their decisions and promote and collaborate in an open and inclusive environment of positive change for the good of the overall system.An effective administrator is one who is a role model and mentor for other participants in terms of knowledge and trends and model best practices for the both the students and staff. A leader who treats others fairly and consistently and who facilitates a spirit of no problem is too large or small to afford a valid solution and promotes thinking outside the box. One who is an innovative thinker who pushes the status quo in terms of constant and consistent improvement and all the while looking for opportunities for system improvement and innovation. A scholar who has high expectations for self and others in terms of progress monitoring of the programs that give the district a face, a voice, and an ever widening circle of influence in the community. I believe a good administrator is one who very effectively wears multiple hats simultaneously and makes all feel they are a valued part of the team.
