The primary role of the Digital Platform Lead, is to manage both Python back-end development and DevOps/Cloud teams as one highly functional team to efficiently deliver projects, and also maintain a high level of operations. As Platform Lead, the responsibilities included driving standards, encouraging innovation within the team and to constantly question our ways of working to deliver a highly resilient, highly functional Serverless and container based Digital Platform in AWS. Understanding and managing workload for the team was a key factor in managing the team’s focus on a day to day basis as well as establishing relationships both within Yellow and third party vendors. As owner of the digital platform, the role also included the responsibility for road-mapping, leadership and governance of this platform.

As part of a larger digital transformation team, my primary role is to lead a high performing team of six to initially build and then deliver solutions to our new AWS Serverless Cloud platform. Spanning multiple domains, our focus is architecting, deploying and supporting a resilient event-driven platform in an ever changing environment. As lead, my role is entrusted with delivering a high standard of operational excellence, owning the road map and governance for the platform with a lense on cost, ensuring CI/CD pipelines operate effectively, as well as encouraging innovation as new technologies evolve.

As a member of the Cloud Platform team, my key responsibilities included the technical delivery of projects, assisting in the architecture road map as well as operational support of our Cloud Environment. Primarily a docker based platform, a large part of this role was migrating production work loads, where possible, to a serverless architecture to reduce cost and optimize existing workloads. As part of this role, there was a responsibility to advocate Cloud adoption to the business through a series of presentations and demonstrations to the department and executives on a quarterly basis to educate and promote Cloud and AWS as a “future” technology leader.

High Availability designer.The main responsibility of this role was to deliver high availability product to world wide telecommunication customers. This HA solution was a 2 node replicated cluster that could be failed over, controlled and uncontrolled, from site to site in the event of a node failure. This role originated in Montreal where i worked for 3 months to convert the product from NIS to a replicated LDAP solution and bring the software back to Ireland for future development. In a team of three, our responsibility was to provide a platform for the products to install on top of. Under a development role, as new products were introduced, we were responsible for ensuring that all databases were dimensioned and and other middle tier dependencies were met.
