Provides strategic planning, strategic thinking and strategy creation consulting to small health care not-for-profit organizations. Fees based upon the entity's financial position.Co-managed, for 4 years, the Michigan Patient Experience of Care Initiative, a statewide, voluntary, collaborative program to measure, report and improve patient experience of care in the physician practice setting. A major accomplishment is the Initiative's public reports of patient experience of care at the physician practice level, by name. This is the only known example in Michigan of comparative health care performance information, at the practice level and by practice name, being made readily accessible to the public.Project Director for the Alliance for Health's W Michigan Aligning Forces for Quality (AF4Q) initiative, one of only sixteen communities funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to transform health and health care at the community level. Responsibilities include strategic planning for the initiative, staffing of the initiative's governing board, carrying out projects and activities, coordination and direction of staff, negotiation and management of contracts for components of the work and managing relations with the funder. Prior to assuming the director role, managed several components of the Aligning Forces initiative and helped the Alliance to secure the original AF4Q grant.Provided intensive consultation to a major Michigan health care system over a 2-year period to facilitate creation of a new model for providing health and health care services, coupled with new relationships with health care purchasers.Created a model for health care transformation, at the regional/community level, for a major national consulting firm, to be used as a basis for expanding its health care-related client base, and illustrating thought leadership and innovative, systemic thinking within the health care field.

Oversaw and managed all aspects of Council initiatives to improve quality and efficiency of the southeast Michigan health care delivery system. One example of this work was creation of a comprehensive set of performance expectations for health plans and health systems, using diverse input and consensus from business, organized labor, consumer advocates, health plans and health care providers; followed up by strategic-level assessments of health systems' structure and operations compared to the expectations. Developed Council statements and papers laying out positions on policy issues. Represented the Council in multiple external forums.
