Lead the management, protection and commercialization of Textron’s Intellectual (IP) assets by collaborating with corporate and business unit leaders in the engineering, legal, sales & marketing, customer support, business development, communications, supply chain, and foreign offset functions to craft strategies, objectives, and programs/policies that leverage IP and licensing opportunities. Co-lead Textron’s Enterprise Intellectual Property Council, and member of Textron’s Legal Council Working Group. Oversee the administrative aspects of Textron’s IP management company, including intercompany assignment and license agreements, shared vendor subscriptions/services, invoicing for outside counsel services, and intercompany chargeback to Textron business units.

Dallas/Fort Worth Area

Identified, analyzed, drafted, and negotiated IP licensing and sale agreements with values up to $25M+, including licensing data and trademarks for aerospace parts manufacturing, product modification and customization, flight simulator development, aircraft co-production, aircraft type certificate transfer, and military fleet sustainment. Provided leadership and support for significant commercial helicopter fleet proposals that include IP licensing components. Performed due diligence and valuation analysis to support IP litigation and M&A projects. Led development and implementation of enterprise IP Program tools and processes, including enterprise IP data management system, invention disclosure form and scorecard tool, trademark portfolio strategy, competitor patent monitoring process, new product differentiator identification process, freedom to operate tracking, and IP training program.

Utilized DMAIC, DFSS, and Lean methodologies to lead 14 multi-functional projects with a total annual savings of $3.2M. Projects included design of an enterprise-wide supply chain transition process, manufacturing variation reduction on two critical aircraft rotor components, redesign of program management earned value management system to meet government requirements, and implementation of a staged process certification program and lean acceleration initiative to reduce the manufacturing cost and risk of several critical V-22 components. Led the delivery of Six Sigma awareness training to 1200+ engineering employees. Delivered training on statistical tools & methods to 140+ blackbelt and greenbelt candidates during eight training waves. Mentored 12 greenbelt projects to closure, and 6 greenbelts to certification.

Lead analyst and deputy project engineer for two active vibration control research programs. Performed finite element modeling, control design and simulation, and component verification testing of active control concepts for rotorcraft vibration. Coordinated tasks with technology co-development partner. Managed project budget and schedule, including fabrication and sourcing of hardware for verification testing. Prepared reports and presentations for customer and peer reviews, and assisted with successful proposals to fund follow-on research programs

Utilized computational, analytical, and experimental methods to advance the state-of-the-art of actuator and sensor design and placement for active structural acoustic control. Developed coupled fluid-structure finite element and data-fit models of laboratory test chamber, and used these models to design and predict actuator and sensor architecture and control systems performance prior to real-time laboratory validation.

Responsible for various engineering tasks including: analysis of component vibration and isolator selection, development of finite element models and subsequent airframe loads and aeroelastic analysis, and stress analysis of primary and secondary airframe structural modifications. Presented analysis results to governernment customers at design reviews.
