Passionate about teaching AND learning. I enjoy the iterative process of updating, modernizing, adapting, or differentiating my instruction from class-to-class. I get very excited about learning new things and finding a way to integrate them into my practice. While I love new and exciting commercial academic supports/instructional materials/curricula - I also enjoy creating and customizing instructional materials, myself. With a background in management, sales, and tech - I have a knack for learning new things quickly and being able to teach those skills to peers (as well as students) I work well alone but prefer to collaborate with or lead a team. I love building and sharing materials.I have always taught semester classes so I have had the opportunity to build solid, trusting relationships with a large portion of the entire student body. As a consequence of this, my teaching has been flexible and ever-changing to support an academically diverse group across the entire student body.My students report that I am relatable, fair, and friendly. As a PBIS Tier II specialist, I am comfortable working with and providing behavioral intervention for at-risk students. I’m very proactively supportive of MTSS systems in general. I'm also very connected with the Special Education and Counseling/Student Support departments because I fiercely believe that supporting the social and emotional learning of my students is just as important as supporting their academic growth.I love teaching my students. Every experience has been validating, motivating, and rewarding in its own way: teaching a core subject 8th grade class and “setting them up” to take my 9th grade core subject class was intensely rewarding. Teaching eleventh graders and being able to facilitate deep discussions about current events and provide advice about college and life after school has been a gift.As a tech-enthusiast teacher who taught through the pandemic: I am, of course, comfortable teaching remotely. I strongly believe that it can be done effectively for many learners given the right supports and follow-through.I’d be interested in any position where my years of teaching experience can reach out and help others - whether it’s directly or remotely teaching a dynamic and diverse group of learners OR creating, distributing, and explaining the instructional materials that other teachers use themselves. Teaching helps me to learn and to grow. It’s a positive feedback loop that I feel eternally grateful to be a part of.
