CurrentThe Energy Policy Institute is Australia's only apolitical, independent energy policy body. It is technology-neutral in its work, supporting renewables, fossil fuels and nuclear power subject in all cases to appropriate environmental safeguards. Safety is a paramount consideration. The Institute advocates that the world should move to a low-carbon society as fast as it can afford to do so, utilising all available technologies, and that individual countries should share the burden equitablyMembership of the Institute comprises a cross-section of leading corporations and organisations across the energy, energy-technology, financial and services sectors and includes three university institutes. Robert is the Executive Director, reporting to a four-person Executive Committee and to a board that is broadly representative of the membership.In March each year, the Institute hosts the Energy State of the Nation, the most important event on Australia's energy policy calendar.The Institute publishes a series of public policy papers by thought leaders on topical energy issues that are distributed to members of Parliament around Australia.
