I received my BSc in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where I studied under the mentorship of Dr. Nicholas Oberlies researching fungal natural products for antimalarial therapeutic applications. I am now a PhD student at the University of California, Santa Cruz working under the mentorship of Dr. Laura Sanchez. My current research focuses on the development of high-throughput screening workflows implementing MALDI-trapped ion mobility spectrometry-mass spectrometry for dereplication of microbial natural products and the directed evolution of enzymes.Trained in HPLC, UHPLC, and automated flash chromatography systems for isolation of microbial natural products. Experienced in de novo structure elucidation of natural products using NMR and high resolution mass spectrometry.Additionally, I am knowledgeable in basic IT and programming in Python and R. I continue to maintain analytical instrumentation in my current position including Agilent 1200 series HPLCs, a Bruker Elute UHPLC, as well as the Bruker timsTOF fleX and Microflex mass spectrometers. My past experience has also familiarized me with maintaining Waters Acquity UPLC systems, alongside Thermo Fisher Scientific Velos LTQ-Orbitrap XL and Q Exactive Plus mass spectrometers.
