What I love. I love helping people and being a part of a team. It was not until recently that I realized that my life has been a series of opportunities to be a part of a team and or lead a team in support of others.I served in the US Army & Army National Guard. As a private in the military you are broken down and molded into a soldier that can perform a task. Later I advanced to lead my own teams and I quickly realized how critical the mentoring of team members is to developing camaraderie, trust and efficiency in the job.Fast forward several years and I found myself with a job with a telecommunications company (AT&T/Lucent/Alcatel-Lucent/Nokia). As a person with an innate ability to quickly pick up & understand task, I was given an opportunity to be a part of a newly formed Government Solutions Video Teleconferencing group. As my skills and knowledge expanded, I began to utilize that in support of our Field Services division in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of various types of telecommunications equipment. In this role I am supporting internal project teams as well as external enterprise customers. My hands-on knowledge and experience with equipment led me to joining a team that was tasked with 2 major Goals.1. Expansion of our field resources was critical to our company goals and that expansion could only be achieved by first gaining the support of our own internal customers (PMs, Engineers & Field Managers).2. Growing our external vendor teams in what they could support and mentoring vendor teams to help maintain a level of knowledge and skill-set expected by our customers.Proof of the success of these 2 goals is reflected in a recent accomplishment by Nokia. • We successfully transitioned form Lucent LTE cellular equipment to Nokia LTE equipment for nearly 100k sites across the AT&T, Sprint and Verizon networks. This was completed in record time and under budget. The need for everyone both internally and externally to be on the same page was critical to this success.Looking back on my history I see that I have constantly been an active player on a team that has consistently supported both internal and external customers. I personally have gained a lot of gratification in being a part of a team that consistently outperformed expectations. I look forward to my next challenge and learning/mentoring the next team I am a part of.
