About Robert Star
I am the Combat Systems Exterior Communications Division Lead and a Chief onboard USS NIMITZ, CVN 68. I will be transitioning from active duty at the end November of 2022. My primary job is managing the day to day operations of 12 personnel and the maintenance and upkeep of all exterior communications on board a Nuclear Aircraft Carrier at sea. But my passion lays with my previous jobs in the U.S. Navy, doing Cyber security scans and patching up vulnerabilities. Throughout my career, the key to success has always been tied to active communication, teamwork, and the ability to work through adversity and solving difficult problems. I am extremely team-oriented and enjoy working with talented people.When charged with leading assessments, I believe that empowering my team members and giving them the ability to think and evaluate vulnerabilities greatly contributes to towards teamwork towards a common goal.My ideal job would include working in a team-oriented, cyber security environment with travel up to 20%. I am passionate about hardening networks and protecting network assets. I am excited about whichever way the next chapter of my life takes me and would consider anything that allows me to grow and excel as a cyber security technician.
