Install, commission and maintain Caterpillar's Mine Star products on mobile mining equipment in Western Australia

Employed as a HV Mobile Plant Electrician to maintain 3 Caterpillar 7495 HD shovels and a Caterpillar electric/hydraulic 6060 shovel at Boddington Gold mine. I joined the shovel maintenance team as the shovels were approaching their half-life service (40 000 hours) and was tasked with maintaining the shovel availability while electrical components were ageing. This gave me exposure to a range of electrical faults and the major service allowed me to be a part of striping back the shovels and to complete detailed inspections, testing and repairs before re-assembling, commissioning and putting back into service. Main tasks included. • Attend breakdowns, provide initial fault diagnostics by using various programs on the Rocky (the on – Board computer), electrical schematics, manuals, personal experience and leasing with fitters and operators• Diagnose intermittent electrical faults by reviewing Machine Log Files (.MLG), assigning channels and recording results using SIBAS monitor tools and SIBAS G Reader, identifying test points, recording and reviewing results using Windaq/DataQ.• Liaise with Engineers and Product Specialists to carrying out specific tests to diagnose faults and provide feedback through written reports, relevant data and raw data. • Repair computer hardware and software faults. (Eg replacement Rocky computers, replace PLC cards, re-install and configure Win-CC, install Siemens Licence keys, download new PLC program to PLC, make approved changes to PLC program) • Entering the confined space areas of the car body to Maintain HV sliprings, switchgear, motors and cables.

Construction electrician in the Nammuldi BWT (below water table) project, plant capable of crushing, wet screening and beneficiating 25 million wet tonnes per annum of iron ore.My roles included:Set up for HV cable and fibre optic cables pulls through underground conduits and pits, from power poles to switch gear and transformers Terminations of HV cables into HV switch gear and transformers..Terminating cables in subs, motors, instruments, PLC cabinets, marshalling panels, motor heaters, distribution boards, VSD’s, local controls.Pre-commissioning, point to point testing, and labelling

Employed to modify, install and commission 8 Electrical Panels controlling bore water pumps in Rio Tinto’s B2 mine as part of the below water table project. Interpret schematics, single line diagrams, P & DI’s, loop sheets, manufactures manuals etc..Running power, control and instrumentation cables in panel, sub mains to panel from power pole and cables to supply bore pump motor. Terminating cables in Pannel, motors, instruments, local controlsTesting and commissioning.
