As Design Director, I have the most senior position in the company besides the Managing Director (we have a staff of 6). I deal with about 70% of all building projects that come into the office. My main task is Project Management from inception to realisation. For projects that I take on, the drawing documentation is delegated to junior staff, all other written documentation is handled by myself. Running jobs, means dealing with Clients, Councils, Consultants, Builders and Suppliers, so about 40% of my week is spent outside the office, either in meetings or on building sites. I enjoy my job, but if another opportunity arose that gave me a chance to design larger projects and run bigger teams I would certainly consider it!
