With almost fifteen years of experience within the contaminated land industry (both private and public sectors) in autumn 2010 I was promoted to Principle Pollution Control Officer, in Charge of the Pollution Team, at the London Borough of Hackney. I am responsible for policy, development and service delivery for contaminated, air quality and private waters within the Borough. It has been an interesting period during which I’ve had to enhance services and find significant savings whilst dealing with the types of issues that go hand-in-hand with restructures. Key successes to date include:• Review and reorganisation of the air quality monitoring program with significant cost savings• Completion of a large investigation under Part 2A of the Environmental Protection act 1990• Development of Pollution Searches on-line, including GIS interface, to provide free service to public with cost savings for the CouncilI am currently streamlining the Councils approach to PPC (i.e. industrial permitting), developing procedures for the Pollution Section, undertaking health & safety assessments and updating the Council’s Air Quality Action Plan. I have a wealth of experience in presenting, running forums and planning publicity events. Currently this includes working with other agencies and Boroughs across London and running the Air Quality & Sustainability Forum at the London Borough of Hackney.I have a proven record of finding innovative ways of achieving goals, making the best of limited resources and driving changes, improvements and work forwards. My goals at the moment are to get the Pollution Section to a stage where it is running effectively. After that I will be looking for challenging roles within the public and private sectors.
