Electronics Support Detachment (ESD) SeattleSupervise 13 technicians that are responsible for the over 1200 users, 900 workstations, 70 Cisco switches, 15 servers, and the PBX's we have at our Coast Guard owned sites. (Currently 4 PBX's)Work on a regular basis to see where problems lie and correct deficiencies that prevent the highest level of success for the IT shop. With constant changes to daily operation priorities, I keep a level head and ensure that the projects and tickets are kept in a controlled process for completion.Led a team to move one of the remote nodes of our Nortel CS1000 PBX from one side of the wall to another. This was done because it was decided to cut the telecommunications room in half, and the PBX node was on the wrong half of the room.Successfully managed the restoration of two crashed file servers while also dealing with a member that was emotionally distraught and needed medical care.Led my team to replaced of over 900 workstations, while also upgrading the users experience from Windows 7 to Windows 10. We got this completed within a 6-month time frame.When we needed to replace all of our switches due to our old ones being end of life, I created templates of the needed configuration. This streamlined the process of configuring each switch, allowing the project to be completed ahead of schedule.Management knew my skills, and when the Coast Guard's software engineers could not create a WDS/ MDT image for Windows 7; my supervisors came to me with this project. With the help of another technician in my shop we developed, tested, and presented a WDS/MDT Windows 7 image to the Coast Guard's software engineer's. They wrote an instruction to deploy our image to over 40,000 workstations across the Coast Guard.

Base Seattle C4IT DepartmentAssistant Information Systems Security Officer (AISSO) for a, non-DoD, internet connected network at U. S. Coast Guard Base Seattle. I ran eEye Retina vulnerability scans on all network connected devices, and fixed all Category 1 and 2 vulnerabilities.Enterprise administrator to a Windows 2008 domain that consisted of 3 Domain Controllers located in 2 different geographic locations, a WSUS / Antivirus Server, a WDS / DHCP Server, a File /Print Server, and a Microsoft Exchange server. I upgraded all servers to Server 2012, raised the domain function level to Server 2012, implemented a DHCP server, implemented a certificate server, and implemented DoD CAC smart card logon. Utilizing Microsoft Hyper-V, I was able to virtualize 6 servers, reducing the total coast of hardware.Managed Cisco ASA firewalls connected to internet and router in Canada. I implemented smart card VPN access through the internet connected firewall, and I created the appropriate rules to allow multicast VoIP traffic through the firewall that connects to the Canadian Coast Guard.Managed approximately 20 Cisco switches and routers connecting 15 locations to SeattleAttended a one-week course for both Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices (ICND) 1 and 2, but did not test to get certified

This included both the SECRET and Sensitive but Unclassified network.I was one of the ships two trusted agents that could issue digital certificates on the SECRET network. This allowed the sender for routine message traffic to digital sign each message that the ship had to send out.Maintained the ships satellite internet connectivity to include troubleshooting the system when it wasn't working correctly.Managed the ships multi-function server: File / Print / WDS /Exchange Server. This allowed ships command and crew to conduct daily business while the ship is out at sea.Managed ships 4 Cisco switchesMaintained 80 workstations. Some of the most notable issues was troubleshooting a workstation that got water damaged due to a water pipe above it burst, and cleaning out a laptop that was in the same work space as a fire and the cooling fan sucked in soot.
