I am the main lead for all export shipping and export compliance activity within the company. By creating a competitive environment within the project export function I have reduced export cost year on year, driving savings in excess of £100,000 while improving the service levels we receive. I have standardised the export compliance process across the company to dramatically improve our compliance with export control regulations and reduce turnaround times in licence applications.Responsibilities• Project shipping of customer orders from point of order to fulfilment of delivery. This includes planning milestone dates for my internal suppliers, communicating the status of orders to customers, creating export documentation and ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations. • Negotiating air and road freight rates with suppliers. Implementing SOPs and monitoring supplier performance using key performance indicators (KPIs). • Setting internal KPIs to measure the performance of my internal suppliers against required completion dates set to meet our customers’ delivery requirements. • Controlling export licence activities, including the completion of accurate SPIRE applications to ensure the quickest possible turnaround in SIEL applications, and ensuring that licensable shipments are made in compliance with government regulations. I help with the rating of products and components, and am involved in making CLC applications when required. • I completed further training on export procedures and export licensing.

During my earlier career I held various jobs, mainly focused around engineering and customer services.Prior to 2005 I was a field sales engineer at Tech-rep, where I gained valuable experience by providing customer service and technical support for a variety of electronics manufacturers within an existing client base while actively investigating new business, mainly within the defence and automotive industries.At Heatstore I used extensive customer service skills to support customers’ technical queries. I completely updated the company’s paper spares manuals using Excel, making them easier to manage and more efficient to update. Also using Excel I created a bespoke ventilation design sheet that simplified the design of industrial ventilation systems.In addition I have trained as a mathematics teacher and held several more practical engineering roles in equipment installation, equipment servicing and CNC programming.
