I graduated from Hawkeye Institute of Technology in 1989 with an AAS in Electronic Engineering Technology (now Hawkeye Community College). I found work as a Test Technician with Rockwell Collins, Inc. During my ten years at Rockwell I had several positions working the longest in the EMI Lab as first a Technician and then as an automation engineer. While at Rockwell, I returned to school (nights, mainly) and obtained a BA in Computer Science at Mount Mercy College (now Mount Mercy University) in 1999. Upon obtaining my degree, I applied to work with National Instruments in Austin, Texas. They hired me and I worked there for 5 years as a staff software developer. In 2004 I moved back to Iowa and obtained a position with DISTek Integration, Inc. I started here as a Test Engineer. I worked the first 5 years out of our Cedar Falls, Iowa office. I then worked on-site at a customer location doing embedded software testing and supporting Hardware in the Loop test systems (HiLs) for 6 years. In December of 2015 I moved back to our Cedar Falls office to be part of an Integrated Projects Engineering team. In 2016 I was offered a team-lead position in Urbandale where I managed a team of 9 other DISTek people at a customer's site. Since 2021, I have been back to project work, this time developing embedded C for our customer's controllers.
