The reason why I studied business and administration was to be educated to manage a company. What I learned along the way, in the day-to-day job, helped me to find a purpose that was meaningful to me: striking the best possible balance of heart, guts and mind to bring a substantial contribution to the business performance, while helping your organization to feel proud and engaged. Between 1990 and 2016, I developed my professional competences in international business environments, through a sequence of increasingly complex and geographically diversified assignments. During this time, the 10-year service as a General Manager was the most enriching experience so far. Overall, an intense and fascinating journey that resulted in major accomplishments in deploying complex geographic commercial strategies, in developing organizational design and operational efficiency plans and in implementing cultural transformation and stabilization programs in “stretched” situations such as a company integration and a division spin-off.Thereafter, a sabbatical break allowed me to reflect about my options going forward; that is how I decided to pursue the aspiration of working for an NGO. My approach the non-profit sector started by undertaking some volunteer work and by enrolling in a Master in International Cooperation, Finance and Development, as a way to build an understanding of this complex and diverse professional perspective.I feel very proud and privileged to have had now the opportunity to join Save the Children Italy, to work with the team that develops and implements numerous, impactful, domestic support programs for children.
