I started my career as a DJ in 2017 after a friend asked if I wanted to try spinning vinyl records at her bar residency. Since then I have had the pleasure of playing club stages all across the country from Los Angeles to New York City and several cities in between. My experience has made me proficient in using DJ mixing software like Rekordbox, Virtual DJ and Serato. Along with that, I am also versed in using standalone equipment like DJX controllers and CDJ turntables. Since every club stage is different, I've had to become adaptable and quick on my feet to troubleshoot any equipment issues. This has ultimately made me versed in live mixing and equipment setup. It's important to know what what cables go where especially when things go awry and whoever is running sound isn't immediately available.As an independent DJ, I have had to learn to be my own manager and advocate for myself. Closed mouths don't get fed and learning how to network is something you have to be comfortable with if you want to get work on your own. I've had to learn quickly over the years that knowing my worth and to voice my needs with promoters is important to ensure my needs as a performer are met. Even if this did start off as a hobby, I have now been able to monetize my talents and have fun doing it. Over the years I have had the joy of helping create spaces for other transgender and BIPOC folk to enjoy nightlife without fear of prejudice. One of my greatest achievements has been organizing my own Pride event centering queer Latinx individuals and raising $1000 for undocumented trans migrants. Advocacy has always been something I have been passionate about, and helping those under-represented voices has been something I've taken joy in uplifting in my work as a DJ.

As a Spanish Interpreter I have had to learn to be adaptable and patient in order to adequately handle sensitive conversations with minimal interaction. I've had to immerse myself into scenarios out fo my day to day and learn the ins-and-outs of different industries to correctly interpret for them if I am ever thrown into such scenarios. I have learned how to keep confidentiality on banking interactions and maintain HIPAA compliance for healthcare calls. As a video remote interpreter I have had to be learn to have emotional empathy for people of all backgrounds. While this is important, it is also necessary that I maintaining my composure and my roll as the interpreter completely conduit to ensure a complete and accurate interpretation. Additionally, I have had to learn assertiveness to help maintain control over conversations especially when emotions run high. During my time with Cyracom, I have had the pleasure of helping train new employees on company guidelines and help foster their language learning capabilities. Knowing how to speak two languages is great, but, being able to find the correlations between the two spanning everything from grammar and cultural dialect, and being able to do so quickly, is what's really impressive. This is not something that everyone can easily master and can be overwhelming for most just starting, which is why I have enjoyed helping mentor new employees with my knowledge I've acquired from my successes and my mistakes.This job has made me a chameleon who is quick to adapt to whatever scenario I'm in and be able to find solutions quickly to any language discrepancies or inquiries I may have. Not being afraid to ask clarifying questions to my clients and non-English speakers is important in making sure I can correctly communicate what each person has to say.
