Curator Of Drawings Emerita
While Curator of Drawings I was in charge of collection of around 9,000 works; for a sample--see "Drawn by New York: Six Centuries of Watercolors and Drawings at the NYHS." Among them 474 watercolors of birds by John James Audubon, among them all 435 watercolor models for "The Birds of America"--see "Audubon's Aviary: The Original Watercolors for 'The Birds of America.'" During that time I curated many exhibitions, some with award-winning catalogues, and authored books and dozens of articles involving European and American works of art. I am guest-curating the exciting exhibition "Pets and the City" that opens at the N-YHS in late October 2024.
